Our Graduates leave the Western North Carolina School of Massage with the highest commitment to professionalism. In our Somatic Psychology, Ethics and State Law classes, our students learn the importance of making our clients feel comfortable with respect to modesty and the importance of treating everybody with dignity and worth.
Students learn and practice a variety of massage techniques from the practices of Swedish, Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Reflexology, LomiLomi, Neuromuscular Therapy, Orthopedic, sports massage, and more. Practice makes perfect, so students have the opportunity to practice on each other and during our supervised student clinic.
An important part of massage school is developing an understanding of the interworkings of the human body. Our students learn the major postural muscles of the body, their attachments, actions, and innervations. Our Kinesiology courses are hands-on with an emphasis in activities that include clay modeling, drawing on classmates, Simon says movement activities, and palpation.
